Cynthia Jabar
Cynthia Jabar has written and illustrated 4 picture books for children and illustrated over 25. Her bestselling art appears internationally in picture books, greeting cards, magazines, games, toys, t-shirts, and dinnerware. She divides her time between the coast of Maine and New York City.
What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?
Crayons for sure! I still love the smell of them. I loved doodling and creating pictures to go with the poems I wrote. I also made lots of handmade cards. I still do this for friends and family. Now I get to share what I illustrate with PKP and my fans. How cool is that?
What is your favorite color?
PINK. I just love the PINK color of the sky at sunset.
What is your favorite meal?
Breakfast because I love to make and drink super strong coffee. I also eat apples with strawberry (PINK) yogurt. It's a great way to jump start my brain in the morning.
If you were not an artist, what would you be?
I would have been a research scientist. When I first went to college, I studied biology and chemistry. I wanted to study the life of cells. I ended up creating very detailed lab notebooks full of colorful illustrations. This is how my love of book illustration developed.
